It’s been a while since our last major development update.
For the past five months, much of our work has been happening behind the scenes. While things may have seemed quiet, we’ve been researching, experimenting, designing the architecture, and working through the challenges involved in building a modern hybrid Minecraft server platform.
Today, we’re finally ready to share what we’ve been working on.
LunarArc is making serious progress.
What Is LunarArc?
LunarArc is our in-house hybrid Minecraft server software, designed to bring the plugin and mod ecosystems together while providing a modern foundation for communities that need both in a single server environment.
The project has been in development for around five months, with much of that time focused on research, architecture, compatibility, and testing. Rather than rushing an early release, we’ve been taking the time to understand how the different parts of the Minecraft server ecosystem can work together properly.
What Makes LunarArc Different?
Hybrid server software is not a new concept, but LunarArc takes a different approach to how the underlying ecosystems are brought together.
PaperMC Foundation
LunarArc is built on PaperMC, giving the project a modern server foundation with Paper’s performance improvements, optimisations, asynchronous systems, and extensive patch ecosystem.
This also provides a strong foundation for maintaining compatibility with the existing Bukkit and Paper plugin ecosystem.
Cross-Ecosystem Integration
One of LunarArc’s primary goals is to allow different Minecraft ecosystems to coexist within the same server environment.
The project is being developed with compatibility for:
- Bukkit
- Spigot
- PaperMC
- Minecraft Forge
- NeoForge
- FabricMC
- QuiltMC
The goal is to reduce the need for server owners to choose between a plugin-focused server and a heavily modded environment.
A Universal Compatibility Layer
At the centre of LunarArc is its compatibility architecture.
Rather than treating plugins and mods as completely separate environments, LunarArc is designed to provide the necessary integration layer between them, allowing both ecosystems to operate within the same server.
This opens the possibility of running traditional Paper plugins alongside modern Minecraft mods within a unified server environment.
Open Source
LunarArc isn’t being developed solely for AMPZ Network. Our goal is to create software that the wider Minecraft server community can use, inspect, contribute to, and build upon.
LunarArc is open source under the GPL-3.0 license, allowing developers and server administrators to inspect the source code, report issues, contribute improvements, and help shape the project as development continues.
The Future of AMPZ Network’s Hybrid Server
AMPZ Network currently uses Arclight as the hybrid server software powering our All The Forge server. It provides the bridge between the plugin and mod ecosystems that our current hybrid infrastructure relies on.
LunarArc represents the next step in that evolution.
By developing our own hybrid server software, we have greater control over the underlying platform and can shape its development around the long-term requirements of AMPZ Network.
Once LunarArc reaches a stable release and has demonstrated the stability, compatibility, and reliability required for production use, we intend to begin transitioning our hybrid infrastructure from Arclight to LunarArc.
This will be a gradual process. Our existing infrastructure will remain in place throughout LunarArc’s development, testing, and stabilisation phases. We will only begin the migration once we are confident that LunarArc is ready for production environments.
As part of that transition, All The Forge will receive a modpack update to bring its modloader version in line with the NeoForge version supported by the corresponding stable LunarArc release. This will help ensure that the modpack and server software are aligned before any migration takes place.
For us, this is more than simply changing server software. It is part of a longer-term effort to establish a more modern, capable, and maintainable foundation for AMPZ Network’s hybrid infrastructure.
Our long-term goal is for LunarArc to become the foundation of AMPZ Network’s hybrid server environment and provide a platform we can continue to develop as the network evolves.
How Does It Work?
At a high level, LunarArc combines a modern Paper-based server core with a compatibility layer designed to connect the different plugin and mod ecosystems.

Get Involved
If you’d like to see what LunarArc can do, the latest builds are available from our Download Page.
Try running your favourite plugins and mods together, experiment with different configurations, and let us know what works — and what doesn’t.
You can also join the LunarArc Discord Server to report issues, discuss development, and share your experiences with the project.
For developers who want to contribute directly, the source code is available on our GitHub repository.
Every issue, pull request, test, and piece of feedback helps move LunarArc closer to a stable release.
What’s Next?
LunarArc is still actively being developed, and there is plenty more to come.
Our current work is focused on improving compatibility, refining the underlying architecture, expanding support across the plugin and mod ecosystems, and continuing to work towards production-ready stability.
Once that milestone is reached, we’ll begin planning the transition of AMPZ Network’s hybrid infrastructure from our current Arclight-based environment to LunarArc.
Keep Up With LunarArc
This post is primarily here to bring everyone up to speed on what we’ve been working on behind the scenes. There is much more to come as development continues.
Future development updates, announcements, progress reports, and other LunarArc news will be posted on our LunarArc News page.
If you want to follow the project’s progress, keep an eye on the news page — we’re only getting started.
Thank you for your continued support and patience while we’ve been working behind the scenes.
